(This is the original write-up of Yentar from approx 1995 and may need some updating.)
Yentar, at the southern tip of "Serantus," is an "Asian" culture (a mixture of Earth's feudal China and Japan). The leader of Yentar is a Shogunate, or the current strongest noble family head. It is a large, introverted country that rarely trades openly with other countries due to its self sufficiency and isolation.
Off the southern coast of Yentar are a string of isles inhabited by savages. Only the larger and closer islands are associated with the country of Yentar.
The current shogun has the support of the church (monks of Chilan, and the priests who worship a p[antheon of naturalistic and heroic gods).
The country is made up of two peoples, the Yentese and the Chilan. The Chilan were conquered by the Yentese almost 500 years ago, when the country was divided into two separate parts. A written history dates only 300 years prior to this, and is basedon myth.
Their neighbors, Aragol, are a nomadic society of plains men without cities. Their tribal nature is equal to Earth's Native Americans.
Further to the north, the Kyurans are warlike conqestors who are advancing technically and physically, as they have doubled their size in the last 600 years. Their navy claims to have sailed beyond the horizon to new lands.
